Shipping a Car To or From Florida

Seasonal patterns, route realities and timing advice specific to the Florida market.

Florida is a seasonal market, not a steady one

Roughly October through January, vehicles flood south and carriers arrive with full trailers and leave with empty ones. Rates inbound climb; outbound rates soften. From March through May the pattern reverses. Understanding which direction you are moving tells you a lot about the price you will be quoted.

The main corridors

I-95 carries most Northeast traffic and is the fastest lane out of Broward. I-75 and the Turnpike handle Midwest and Gulf Coast moves. Cross-country runs to Texas and California typically stage through Jacksonville or Orlando before heading west.

Realistic transit times from Coral Springs

Atlanta 1 to 2 days, the Carolinas 2 to 3, New York and New England 3 to 5, Chicago 4 to 6, Texas 3 to 5, California 7 to 10. Add a day or two during peak season and around major holidays.

Hurricane season affects logistics

June through November, storms can close I-95 and shut down loading for days. If a named storm is tracking toward South Florida, expect carriers to reschedule rather than run. Booking earlier in the week gives more room to recover from a weather delay.
